Warren Village – 8 affordable rental homes in the center of Warren!
What is Warren Village?
Warren Village will be 8 units of affordable rental housing that will be built on land adjacent to the Town Hall. The development will consist of two wood-framed buildings, parking area, and walking paths. There will be a total of two 1-bedroom units, four 2-bedroom units, and two 3-bedroom units. Each unit will have a covered front entrance, a private back porch, and an unfinished basement.
Who will live there?
These units will be available to households with annual household incomes that are at or below 80% of the Area Median Income (that is $74,500 for a 2-person household or $93,100 for a 4-person household). Some units will be set aside for households that earn at or below 50% of the Area Median Income. Residents could be families with children at Warren School, teachers, local business employees, skilled laborers, seniors with fixed incomes, and others who contribute to the vibrancy of our town!
When will this housing be ready?
Warren Affordable Housing Corporation (WAHC) is currently working with a team at QA+M Architects to complete the designs and site plans. WAHC expects that actual site work and construction will likely begin in late 2026 and the units could be move-in ready in 2027.
How is this project funded?
Funding for early feasibility studies and pre-development was provided by the Town of Warren’s American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funds. Additional pre-development funds are being provided by the CT Department of Housing. We have applied for construction funding from the Federal Home Loan Bank of Boston (FHLBB) Affordable Housing Program, funding will also be requested from the CT Department of Housing. Donations from local individuals will be essential in getting us to the finish line!
